Why should you adopt an adult dog rather than get a puppy?  

Ultimately, you are helping to SAVE A LIFE.

Right now, there are THOUSANDS of homeless dogs in North Carolina shelters, and every puppy bought and sold means there is a family who will not adopt an older dog, and that dog could be euthanized.

Just because they are not “cute puppies” anymore does not make them less desirable as family companions. Puppies grow up, and if you're lucky, your miniature schnauzer can live to be 15—17 years old. Having a dog of any age is a lifetime commitment, but so many people do not think of the training, financial, emotional, and medical responsibilities that go along with having their pet, and then dogs end up in shelters to be euthanized, or else are suffering in silence and dying a slow death, tied up to a stake out back, lacking in medical care, and ignored by their “owners.”

We rescue dogs that need people who WANT them, and want them forever. You should want to have a dog in your life not only so that YOU can benefit from the company and love that a dog gives to you, but so that YOU CAN GIVE love and companionship to a dog that needs you, and help make that dog's life better.
